The Gladys Potter Community Service Award

This award is presented to an individual or group that has provided outstanding service to the people of Seven Springs in the preceding year, or has given a lifetime of exemplary service.  It is named in honor of the late Miss Gladys Potter, who was a lifelong resident of the village, and a friend to all who knew her.  Truly a fixture in the community, "Miss Gladys" worked for over 40 years at the Seven Springs Supply Company, and was a long-time member of the Seven Springs United Methodist Church, where she faithfully sang in the choir and played the organ.  She genuinely loved Seven Springs and its people, and was loved in return by them.

On April 23, 1989, the Seven Springs United Methodist Church held "Gladys Potter Day" to commemorate her numerous years of faithful service, concern and generosity to the people of the Seven Springs community.  In her note of thanks to her church family the following week, she said, "all I have ever done for others came from the bottom of my heart and was done out of my love for them, and I enjoyed every minute of it."

Gladys Potter passed away on December 12, 1991.  The many acts of kindness that she performed in her lifetime are very much remembered in the village and the surrounding area even today.
